Literature Text

I.

Once Artemis visited me
Gave me her bow and arrow
And sent me to hunt with her dogs
On a chariot drawn by golden stags
I aimed and shot a collection
Of stars and memories
All before I tumbled out of the sky
And into the pool
Where all my dreamless nights came true

II.

You can look down at the lakewater
And see what you've become
You're not a monster or a man
You're a boat, sailing away
While the geese fly overhead
And there's a hole at the bottom
A hole you must out-create
In order to find the lake's edge
Where the horizon will take you

III.

A long day driving
The sun's setting on them
She takes his hand in hers
They laugh
And the desert laughs with them

IV.

Maybe I've been a flapper girl
Born to the age of freedom and syncopated beats
Twisting to the jive of the city
And letting the sun shine in the night

Maybe I've been a glass of wine
Making everyone I touch
A little bit crazy, a little bit odd
The hatter spirit spreading like a song

Maybe I've been a train
Going forward, never stopping
And never wondering where I'll be

V.

Black cloth and gold lines
The first thing he sees when he wakes from death
A familiar face he's forgotten
Yet remembers clearly
As clear as the ticking of the clocks
And his companions' many falls
The sky was the brightest blue that day
And with a promise, he goes off again
To save the others from no end

VI.

Fairytales
Are truths
In a sense
That there are heroes
That fight for what they
Think they should fight for, and

That makes us all real

VII.

There's a woman in my house
Who lives inside an old frame
She always smiles
As if her husband never left her
As if her child was never stolen
As if she never killed herself
She smiles at fires
She smiles at wars
She smiles at earthquakes
She smiles at my missing cat
She smiles at everything
As if she has no problems
In all the world there is
And she's lying

VIII.

It's a windy day
There's a storm coming the TV says
There are two people in the house
One is hesitant
One is languid
They sit together, their fingers touching
While the tea before them goes cold -
All your tomorrows start here

IX.

I have five friends
They're all in my head
They never get bored of me
And I always talk with them
On sunny days and rainy days
They perform a circus
I'm there as their clown
And we all laugh and laugh around

X.

Tonight I'll close my eyes
And I won't try to restrain the clouds
That shoot across the skies in many colors
Or the diamonds that break into lights
For the world to enjoy
Who knows?
I may find Lucy again
After so many years
I don't feel like giving a long artist's comments today. ^^;

This is just another collection of short poems. Maybe you can consider it a sequel to my first collection Uncommon Nonsense (though this one has fewer poems), or maybe you can consider this separate. It's up to you.

Inspiration for these poem pieces came in the form of songs that I was listening to over the course of writing, though they may not be related to the songs at all.

It's not as good as Uncommon Nonsense though OTL

Please do tell me what you think.

I love your poetry, Nat. It's short, but it gets the message across. It's not like the old poems in your English text book where they sound pretty but don't really have much meaning to the present. I like your format too. When I expect something to rhyme or go into an analogy, it defies my expectations and gives me a pleasant surprise.
